(Exemption) Order 2017

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order is the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Construction and Use) (Exemption) Order 2017 and comes into operation on 30 December 2017.

Definitions

2.  In this Order —

“bus service” means a bus service that is operated —

(a) by a bus operator, which holds a Class 1 bus service licence (within the meaning of the Bus Services Industry Act 2015 (Act 30 of 2015)); and

(b) under a contract with the Land Transport Authority of Singapore for the carriage of passengers on the specified bus;

“specified bus” means the vehicle bearing the registration number SG5999Z.

Exemption

3.—(1)  Subject to sub‑paragraph (2), rules 6(1), 75(3) and 77(1)(d) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Construction and Use) Rules (R 9) do not apply to the specified bus while it is being used to operate the bus service.

(2)  The exemption in sub‑paragraph (1) is subject to the condition that there must be in force, at all times, a policy of insurance in relation to the specified bus insuring against any liability in respect of —

(a) damage to any property caused by or arising out of the use of that specified bus; and

(b) the death of, or bodily injury sustained by, any person caused by or arising out of the use of that specified bus.
