Parliamentary Elections Act

(Chapter 218)

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 109(2) of the Parliamentary Elections Act, the Prime Minister hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Parliamentary Elections (Composition of Offences) Regulations 2006 and shall come into operation on 19th April 2006.

Compoundable offences

2. The following offences may be compounded by the Returning Officer, or any officer of the Elections Department who is authorised by the Returning Officer, in accordance with section 109(1) of the Act:

(a)	any corrupt practice under section 61(1)(c)(i) of the Act as in force immediately before 14 June 2024; [S 452/2024 wef 14/06/2024]
(b)	any corrupt practice under section 61(1)(c)(ii) of the Act as in force immediately before 14 June 2024 read with regulation 3 of the Parliamentary Elections (Election Advertising) Regulations (Rg 3) revoked on 14 June 2024; [S 452/2024 wef 14/06/2024]
(ba)	any corrupt practice under section 61B(1) or (2) of the Act; [S 452/2024 wef 14/06/2024]
(c)	any offence under section 61C(1) or (2), 61E(1), 61F(2), 61G(2), 61H(1), 61I(1), 61J(1), 61O(2), 71(5), 78C(2), 78D(2), 85(2) or 104(2) of the Act; [S 452/2024 wef 14/06/2024] [S 49/2025 wef 22/01/2025]
(ca)	any offence under section 78B(3) of the Act as in force immediately before 14 June 2024; [S 452/2024 wef 14/06/2024]
(d)	any illegal practice under section 74(4) read with section 79 of the Act for failing to transmit, within the time limited by section 74(1) of the Act, the returns and statements respecting election expenses;

(e)	any offence under section 78A(2) of the Act as in force immediately before 14 June 2024 read with regulation 4, 5, 6 or 7(2) of the Parliamentary Elections (Election Advertising) Regulations (Rg 3) revoked on 14 June 2024, as the case may be; [S 140/2011 wef 14/03/2011] [S 452/2024 wef 14/06/2024]
(f)	any offence under section 82(1)(d) or (e) read with section 82(2) of the Act; [S 452/2024 wef 14/06/2024]
(g)	any offence under regulation 19A(1) or 23(a), (b) or (c) of the Parliamentary Elections (Election Advertising) Regulations revoked on 14 June 2024; [S 140/2011 wef 14/03/2011] [S 452/2024 wef 14/06/2024]
(h)	any offence under regulation 9(1), 12(1), 13(5), 14(1), 15(3) or 17(4) of the Parliamentary Elections (Election Advertising) Regulations 2024 (G.N. No. S 450/2024). [S 452/2024 wef 14/06/2024]
