Jurong Town Corporation
(Assignment of Functions) Notification 2018

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 12(1A) of the Jurong Town Corporation Act, the Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) makes the following Notification:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Notification is the Jurong Town Corporation (Assignment of Functions) Notification 2018 and is deemed to have come into operation on 1 August 2016.

Definition

2.  In this Notification, “public agency” means a body that is —

(a) established or constituted by or under a public Act to perform or discharge a public function; and

(b) nominated by the Government.

Additional functions

3.  The Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) assigns to the Jurong Town Corporation the following additional functions as a centre of excellence established by the Government for building and infrastructure projects:

(a) to provide —

(i) technical, management, consultancy or advisory services;

(ii) facilities management services; and

(iii) research and development in innovation, safety and construction productivity,

including, but not limited to, feasibility studies, planning and design, and project and contract management;

(b) to build up the capabilities of the Government and public agencies relating to building and infrastructure projects by —

(i) undertaking research and development in planning, design, project management and facilities management; and

(ii) sharing its research and expertise with the Government and public agencies;

(c) to support the building and infrastructure projects of the Government and public agencies by recruiting and training a pool of planning, design, project management and facilities management staff.
