Order 2022

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 97 of the Co‑operative Societies Act 1979, the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order is the Co‑operative Societies (AUPE Credit Co‑operative Limited — Exemption under Section 97) Order 2022 and comes into operation on 11 October 2022.

Exemption from section 39(1)( a )(ii) of Act

2.—(1)  AUPE Credit Co‑operative Limited (called in this paragraph AUPE CC), a primary society, is exempt from the requirement in section 39(1)(a)(ii) of the Act that membership in a primary society for an individual is to be restricted to individuals who are citizens of Singapore or resident in Singapore, to the extent provided in sub‑paragraph (2).

(2)  AUPE CC may admit an employee of the Public Utilities Board who is both a citizen of Malaysia and resident in Malaysia as a member of AUPE CC, even though he or she is neither a citizen of Singapore nor resident in Singapore.
