Co-operative Societies (Exemption) Order 2010
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 97 of the Co-operative Societies Act, the Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order may be cited as the Co-operative Societies (Exemption) Order 2010 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1st July 2010.
Exemption
2.  Every co-operative society named in the second column of the First Schedule is exempted from the provision of the Act specified opposite thereto in the first column.
Application of certain provisions of Act with modifications or conditions
3.  The provision of the Act specified in the first column of the Second Schedule shall apply to each co-operative society and subject to the modification or condition set out opposite thereto in the second and third columns, respectively.
Revocation
4.  The Co-operative Societies (Exemption Orders) (Consolidation) Order (O 1) and the Co-operative Societies (Exemption) (Consolidation) Order (O 3) are revoked.

NTUC Thrift and Loan Co-operative Limited
 
Section 39(1)(a) of the Act shall apply with the modification that the reference in sub-paragraph (ii) to a citizen or resident in Singapore shall be a reference instead to a person —
 
 
 
 
(a)who is a member of the Singapore Maritime Officers Union or the Singapore Organisation of Seamen;
 
 
 
 
(b)who is not a member of the committee of management of the NTUC Thrift and Loan Co-operative Limited; and
 
 
 
 
(c)who is ineligible to and does not vote at any general meeting of the members of the NTUC Thrift and Loan Co-operative Limited.
 
 
 
 
 
2.Section 53(1) of the Act
 
Singapore National Co-operative Federation Limited
 
Section 53(1) of the Act shall apply with the modification that the co-operative society shall only be required to provide in its by-laws for a general meeting to be convened by the committee of management triennially.
 
 
 
 
 
3.Section 60(1) of the Act
 
Ngee Ann Polytechnic Consumer Co-operative Society Limited
 
Section 60(1)(a) of the Act shall apply with the modification that a person may be eligible for membership of or to remain as a member of the committee of management of the co-operative society if he is not below 18 years of age.
