(Designation of Sectors)
Notification 2012
In exercise of the powers conferred by the definition of “sector” in section 40A of the Charities Act, Mr Chan Chun Sing, Senior Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, hereby makes the following Notification:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Notification may be cited as the Charities (Designation of Sectors) Notification 2012 and shall come into operation on 1st November 2012.
Designation of sectors
2.  The sector comprising the class of charities and institutions of a public character described in the second column of the Schedule is designated as under the supervision of the Sector Administrator specified opposite thereto in the first column of the Schedule.
Cancellation
3.  The Designation of Sectors under the Supervision of Sector Administrators (N 3) is cancelled.

1.Ministry of Education
(a)Any educational institution not operated or conducted for profit, or a public fund for the establishment, maintenance, enlargement or improvement of such an educational institution.
 
(b)Any university, or a public fund for the establishment, maintenance, enlargement or improvement of a university.
 
(c)Any public or private fund for the provision, establishment or endowment of a scholarship, an exhibition or a prize in a university, or an educational institution not operated or conducted for profit.
 
(d)Any organisation not operated or conducted for profit the objects of which are exclusively or primarily for the advancement of education.
2.Ministry of Health
(a)Any hospital not operated or conducted for profit.
 
(b)Any public authority or society not operated or conducted for profit and which is engaged in research or other work connected with the causes, prevention or cure of disease in human beings.
 
(c)Any organisation not operated or conducted for profit the objects of which are exclusively or primarily for the promotion of health.
3.Ministry of Social and Family Development
(a)Any public fund established and maintained for the relief of distress among members of the public.
 
(b)Any organisation not operated or conducted for profit the objects of which are exclusively or primarily for the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantages.
4.People’s Association
(a)Any organisation not operated or conducted for profit the objects of which are exclusively or primarily for the advancement of citizenship or community bonding and strengthening of social cohesion.
5.Singapore Sports Council
(a)Any organisation not operated or conducted for profit the objects of which are exclusively or primarily for the advancement of sports or connected with the promotion of sports.
