| | Inspired by Chinese calligraphy, the rooster in the centre is symbolised by the appropriate Chinese character of the "Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches" to enhance the characteristics of the animal and the oriental cultural flavour. The peony, a traditional Chinese symbol of blessings and festive cheer, incorporated on the body of the rooster, ushers in the Lunar New Year. The 2 Chinese characters signifying the "Year of the Rooster" are on the right of the rooster design. The denomination of the coin in figures is below the design. The weight in troy Oz / grams and fineness of the coin are at the upper circumference for all the coins except for the $2 cupro- nickel coin. |
