Notification 2016
Pursuant to section 17(5) of the Currency Act, it is notified for general information that the denominations and characteristics of the coins to be issued on 1 January 2017 by the Monetary Authority of Singapore are as shown in the Schedule.

1.The background of the silver and nickel-plated zinc coins, except for the $80 silver proof-like coin, is shiny silver.
2.The background of the $80 silver proof-like coin is matt silver.
3.The background of the gold coins is shiny gold.
4.The Singapore Coat of Arms is engraved in the centre of the coin with the year-date “2017” below it.
5.The word “SINGAPORE” appears once in each of the 4 official languages and is engraved on the coin around the Singapore Coat of Arms.
6.The mintmark is engraved on the coin around the Singapore Coat of Arms at 5 o’clock for all the proof coins.
 
1.The background of the silver and nickel-plated zinc coins is shiny silver.
2.The background of the gold coins is shiny gold.
3.The coins, except for the $5 gold brilliant uncirculated coin and the $80 silver proof-like coin, share a common design which features —
(a)a rooster engraved in the centre;
(b)kampong houses of Kampong Buangkok engraved on the left side and partially covered by the rooster;
(c)banana leaves engraved on the right side and partially covered by the rooster;
(d)the respective denominations in figures engraved and placed at 12 o’clock, above the rooster; and
(e)the weight in troy oz and fineness of the coin, engraved above the denomination of the coin, except for the $2 nickel-plated zinc proof-like coin.
4.The rooster featured in the $5 silver proof colour coin and $2 silver proof-like colour coin is featured in colour.
5.The $5 gold brilliant uncirculated coin features —
(a)a rooster engraved in the centre;
(b)the denomination “$5” engraved and placed at 6 o’clock, below the rooster; and
(c)the weight in grams and fineness of the coin, engraved and placed at 12 o’clock, above the rooster.
6.The $80 silver proof-like coin features —
(a)a rooster engraved in the centre with high relief;
(b)kampong houses of Kampong Buangkok partially overlapping a banana tree engraved on the left side and partially covered by the rooster;
(c)kampong houses of Kampong Buangkok and banana leaves engraved on the right side and partially covered by the rooster;
(d)the denomination “$80”, engraved and placed at 9 o’clock, just left of the rooster, and partially overlapping feature (b); and
(e)the weight in kilograms and fineness of the coin, engraved and placed at 12 o’clock, above the rooster.
