Notification 2016
Pursuant to section 17(5) of the Currency Act, it is notified for general information that the denomination and characteristics of the coin to be issued on 29 November 2016 by the Monetary Authority of Singapore are as shown in the Schedule.

1.The background of the coin is shiny silver.
2.The Singapore Coat of Arms is engraved in the centre of the coin with the year-date “2016” below it.
3.The word “SINGAPORE” appears once in each of the 4 official languages and is engraved on the coin near its circumference.
4.The mintmark is engraved on the coin near its circumference at 5 o’clock of the coin.
1.The coin has a shiny silver centre within a matt annulus.
2.The words “SINGAPORE BOTANIC GARDENS UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE” are engraved in shiny silver and run from 9 o’clock to 3 o’clock along the upper half of the annulus.
3.The denomination “$5” is in shiny silver and placed at 7 o’clock of the shiny silver centre.
4.The coin features —
(a)a cluster of tapped rubber trees with herringbone incisions in their trunks and the ground they are planted in, which are engraved with texturing and occupy the left third of the shiny silver centre;
(b)the Singapore Botanic Gardens Bandstand, which is engraved and placed just right of centre of the shiny silver centre;
(c)a scene comprising 3 Yellow Rain Trees, grass and other ground foliage, featured in colour, that surrounds the Bandstand and together with which occupy the remaining two-thirds of the shiny silver centre; and
(d)sprays of Renanthera Singapore Botanic Gardens and Grammatophyllum speciosum, featured in colour and placed at 4 o’clock and between 4 o’clock and 7 o’clock (respectively) of the shiny silver centre, overlapping feature (c) and complementary to features (a) and (b) and the denomination, with a slight overlap of the lower right part of the annulus.
