Building Maintenance and Strata Management
(Lift, Escalator and Building Maintenance)
(Revocation) Regulations 2025

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 136 of the Building Maintenance and Strata Management Act 2004, the Minister for National Development makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations are the Building Maintenance and Strata Management (Lift, Escalator and Building Maintenance) (Revocation) Regulations 2025 and come into operation on 1 October 2025.

Revocation

2.  Revoke the Building Maintenance and Strata Management (Lift, Escalator and Building Maintenance) Regulations 2016 (G.N. No. S 348/2016) (called in these Regulations the revoked Regulations).

Saving and transitional provisions

3.—(1)  Despite regulation 2, regulations 14 and 14A of the revoked Regulations continue to apply to any incident involving any lift or part of a lift that occurs before 1 October 2025.

(2)  Despite regulation 2, regulations 26 and 26A of the revoked Regulations continue to apply to any incident involving any escalator or part of an escalator that occurs before 1 October 2025.

(3)  Despite regulation 2, regulations 7 and 17 of the revoked Regulations continue to apply to any major alteration or replacement works on a lift that commence before 1 October 2025.

(4)  Despite regulation 2, regulations 19 and 29 of the revoked Regulations continue to apply to any major alteration or replacement works on an escalator that commence before 1 October 2025.
