An Ordinance to incorporate the Titular Anglican Bishop of Singapore.

Short title
1.  This Ordinance may be cited as the Bishop of Singapore Ordinance 1911.
The Anglican Bishop of Singapore to be a body corporate
2.—(1)  The Right Reverend Charles James Ferguson-Davie, Doctor of Divinity, Bishop of the Church of England and titular Bishop of Singapore and his successors in office who are Bishops of the Church of England and recognised by the Archbishop of Canterbury for the time being as duly authorised to exercise the office of Bishop in the Settlements of Singapore, Penang and Malacca shall be a body corporate, hereinafter called the Corporation, and shall for the purposes of this Ordinance have the name of “The Bishop of Singapore” and by that name have perpetual succession and shall and may have and use a corporate seal.
(2)  The said seal may from time to time be broken, changed, altered and made anew, as to the Corporation seems fit.
(3)  The Corporation may acquire, purchase, take, hold and enjoy movable and immovable property of every description and may sell, convey, assign, surrender and yield up, mortgage, demise, re-assign, transfer or otherwise dispose of any movable or immovable property vested in the Corporation upon such terms as to the Corporation seem fit and may sue and be sued in respect of such property in all Courts of Justice.

3.  All immovable property situated in the Settlements of Singapore, Penang and Malacca heretofore conveyed or assigned to or vested in “The Bishop of Singapore”, whether with or without the name of the ecclesiastic for the time being holding the office, is hereby vested in the Corporation for the respective estates and interests for which the same is held.
Use of corporate seal
4.—(1)  All deeds, documents and other instruments requiring the seal of the Corporation shall be sealed with the seal of the Corporation in the presence of the Bishop of Singapore for the time being or his attorney duly authorised by a power of attorney deposited under section 48 of the Conveyancing and Law of Property Act 1886 and shall also be signed by the said Bishop for the time being or his attorney so authorised as aforesaid.
(2)  Such signing shall be and be taken as sufficient evidence that the said seal was duly and properly affixed and that the same is the lawful seal of the Corporation.
Notification of appointment of Bishop
5.  A notification in the Gazette of the appointment of any person to exercise the office of Bishop of Singapore shall be conclusive evidence that such person was duly authorised to exercise the said office.
Saving of Government and other rights
6.  Nothing in this Ordinance shall affect the rights of the Government or of any bodies politic or corporate or of any other persons except such as are mentioned in this Ordinance and those claiming by, from or under them.
